Overview :

The APC SMX3000LVNC is a 3000VA line-interactive uninterruptible power supply designed for protecting rack-mounted servers, network infrastructure, and storage platforms operating on a 120V electrical environment. It provides battery-backed power and automatic voltage regulation to maintain system availability during outages, voltage drops, and utility power instability. Infrastructure teams deploy this UPS in server racks and network cabinets where controlled shutdown and short-term runtime protection are required for business-critical equipment.

The system delivers up to 3000VA (2700W) of power capacity with a pure sine-wave output suitable for modern server power supplies with active PFC. It operates on a nominal 120V input and output environment and supports a transfer time typically between 2–8 ms during power disturbances. The UPS includes ten output receptacles consisting of NEMA 5-15R, NEMA 5-20R, and a NEMA L5-30R outlet, allowing mixed server and network device connections within a single rack power protection platform.

Physically, the UPS is designed as a rack/tower convertible chassis occupying 4U of rack space in standard 19-inch racks. This format allows deployment in IDF closets, edge cabinets, and smaller server rooms where rack density is limited but battery runtime protection is required. The relatively short rack depth enables installation in network cabinets that cannot accommodate deeper data center-class UPS hardware.

The SMX3000LVNC includes a pre-installed network management card that enables remote UPS monitoring and control using common management protocols. Administrators can integrate the UPS into centralized infrastructure monitoring platforms using SNMP, HTTP, or SSH access. USB and serial communication ports support local management and automated server shutdown software integration during extended outages.

A typical deployment places this UPS at the base of a server rack supporting virtualization hosts, storage arrays, and network switches where runtime is required to bridge brief outages or allow automated shutdown procedures. The device can also support extended runtime by connecting compatible external battery packs when longer outage protection is required.

This UPS is not intended for high-density data center racks exceeding its 2700W capacity or environments operating on 208V/230V electrical infrastructure. Those deployments require higher-voltage UPS models designed for larger rack loads and higher-efficiency power distribution.
