The APC SMX3000RMHV2U is a line-interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed for rack-based IT infrastructure that requires stable AC power and controlled shutdown during utility disruptions. It is commonly deployed by data center engineers, network administrators, and infrastructure teams supporting servers, storage systems, and networking equipment in 200–240 V power environments.

The UPS provides 3000 VA / 2700 W output capacity, delivering pure sine-wave output to maintain compatibility with active-PFC power supplies commonly used in enterprise servers and network devices. It accepts 208–240 V input and regulates output through automatic voltage regulation (AVR) without frequently switching to battery power, preserving battery life during minor voltage fluctuations.

Physically, the SMX3000RMHV2U occupies 2U of rack space and can also operate in tower orientation using included stabilizing feet. It connects to the electrical infrastructure using an IEC C20 input connector and distributes protected power to eight IEC C13 outlets and one IEC C19 outlet, allowing a mixture of server and high-draw devices within a single rack power zone.

Operationally, the UPS integrates USB, serial, and SmartSlot expansion interfaces to support monitoring and remote shutdown through management platforms. Installing a network management card enables centralized monitoring and integration with infrastructure management systems such as APC EcoStruxure IT.
