BUFFALO LS720D0802B – LinkStation SoHo 700 8TB 2-Bay 2.5GbE NAS
Overview
The BUFFALO LS720D0802B is a LinkStation SoHo 700 desktop NAS with 8TB of installed storage across two 4TB SATA hard drives. It provides two drive bays, native 2.5GbE networking, 2GB of memory, and a hexa-core 1.3GHz processor for centralized file storage and backup in home and small-office environments.
The two installed drives are factory-configured in RAID 1, providing mirrored storage with 4TB of usable capacity. RAID 0 and JBOD modes are also supported for deployments requiring alternative storage configurations.
Technical Information
The LS720D0802B uses SATA 6Gbps drive interfaces and provides one RJ-45 2.5GBASE-T network port. The Ethernet interface supports 2.5Gbps, 1000Mbps, 100Mbps, and 10Mbps operation, allowing the NAS to connect to existing Ethernet infrastructure while providing a multi-gigabit network interface.
Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports support interface rates up to 5Gbps, while one USB 2.0 Type-A port supports up to 480Mbps. The NAS supports SMB/CIFS and FTP/FTPS network file services and uses TCP/IP networking.
Compatibility
The LS720D0802B supports Ethernet networks using 2.5GBASE-T, 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 10BASE-T. Buffalo lists compatibility with Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, and macOS 10.12 or later.
The system includes two installed 4TB hard drives and supports Buffalo replacement drives including the OP-HD4.0BST-3Y 4TB model. The USB interfaces are intended for compatible NAS peripherals rather than direct computer connection.
