BUFFALO LS720D0802 – LinkStation 720 8TB 2-Bay 2.5GbE NAS
Overview
The BUFFALO LS720D0802 is a LinkStation 720 two-bay network-attached storage system with two installed 4TB hard drives for 8TB of total raw capacity. It combines 2.5GbE networking with a hexa-core processor and 2GB of memory for centralized storage, backup, file sharing, and compatible media applications.
The system ships configured in RAID 1, providing 4TB of nominal usable capacity through mirrored storage. RAID 0 and Normal mode are also supported when the deployment requires combined capacity or separate drive volumes.
Technical Information
The LS720D0802 uses two SATA 6Gbps internal drive interfaces and a hexa-core 1.3GHz CPU with 2GB of memory. Its single RJ-45 network port supports 2.5GBASE-T, 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 10BASE-T operation with AUTO-MDIX.
Network services include TCP/IP, SMB/CIFS, FTP, and HTTP/HTTPS. The system also supports DLNA and DTCP-IP for compatible media and digital-content environments.
Three USB Type-A ports are provided, consisting of two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and one USB 2.0 port. Buffalo specifies these interfaces for peripheral devices and specifically states that they cannot be used for a direct computer-to-NAS connection.
Compatibility
The LS720D0802 is designed for wired Ethernet networks supporting 2.5Gbps, 1000Mbps, 100Mbps, or 10Mbps connections. A compatible 2.5GbE network switch and client interface are required to operate at the maximum 2.5Gbps rate.
Buffalo identifies compatibility with Windows computers, Intel-based Mac computers, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Android devices when used with compatible network infrastructure. The NAS also supports Windows backup and macOS Time Machine workflows.

DC Supplies Product Note
The LS720D0802 is the exact 8TB configuration of the LinkStation 720 series and contains two 4TB drives. Buffalo specifies RAID 1 as the factory configuration, providing 4TB of nominal usable capacity; RAID 1 protects against failure of one drive but does not replace a separate backup.
