Overview

The APC RBC43 is a sealed lead-acid replacement battery cartridge for select APC Smart-UPS models. Data center engineers, IT administrators, and network technicians deploy this cartridge to maintain UPS runtime and ensure critical servers, networking devices, and storage systems remain powered during outages. The RBC43 addresses battery end-of-life scenarios, allowing controlled shutdowns and preventing unexpected downtime.

Each RBC43 unit delivers a nominal 12V DC output and features a hot-swappable design, enabling replacement without powering down the UPS or connected equipment. Once installed, compatible UPS systems automatically detect the cartridge, providing runtime monitoring, battery health status, and end-of-life notifications through the UPS management interface.

The cartridge is suitable for rack-mounted or tower UPS configurations in server rooms, branch offices, or edge IT locations. Its compact size allows straightforward installation while maintaining airflow and proper clearance within the UPS enclosure.

UPS management integration supports real-time status updates, battery condition alerts, and proactive maintenance scheduling. This reduces the likelihood of unexpected UPS failures and ensures continuity for connected infrastructure.

The RBC43 is not compatible with non-APC UPS models, high-voltage industrial UPS units, or chemistries other than sealed lead-acid. For deployments requiring extended runtime beyond the RBC43’s capacity, additional battery cartridges or external battery packs designed for higher-capacity Smart-UPS models should be used.
