Overview

The APC AP7821B is a metered power distribution unit (PDU) designed to deliver 208 V / 230 V AC power distribution with real‑time aggregate load visibility for rack‑mounted equipment. Data center power teams, IT operations engineers, and network administrators deploy this PDU where power draw monitoring is essential to maintain balanced loads, detect approaching circuit limits, and support capacity planning without per‑outlet switching. Its metered build focuses on overall consumption measurement rather than individual outlet control.

Configured for 200 V – 230 V input voltage, the AP7821B distributes power through eight IEC 60320 C13 outlets suitable for servers, networking devices, storage, and other rack equipment. The unit supports a regulatory derated current of 16 A per phase (~3300 VA) with a maximum input capability up to 20 A, allowing dense installations to monitor power utilization effectively. Local LED or digital display elements provide aggregate current, voltage, and power metrics at a glance.

The compact 1U horizontal rackmount form factor fits within standard 19‑inch cabinets in enterprise data halls, branch server closets, colocation racks, and edge infrastructure deployments. Its design includes flexible mounting options (horizontal or vertical) to suit varied cabinet layouts and preserve usable rack space for active systems.

Operational conditions accommodate typical IT environments with an operating temperature range from –5 °C to 45 °C and non‑condensing humidity up to 95%. The AP7821B does not include uninterruptible power or battery backup capabilities. It should be paired with upstream UPS infrastructure when ride‑through continuity is required, as this unit provides only distribution and metering functions.
