Overview

The APC AP7802B is a metered power distribution unit designed to provide 208 V AC distribution with real‑time load visibility in rack environments. IT operations, data center power teams, and network administrators deploy this PDU where monitoring of rack power draw and current trends is necessary to maintain capacity planning, avoid overloads, and observe aggregated load behaviour across connected equipment. Its metered architecture focuses on providing accurate load data rather than per‑outlet switching or sequencing.

Configured for 200–208 V AC input, the AP7802B delivers up to 15 A at 208 V (~3120 VA) to a mix of IEC receptacles sized for rack devices. Local display metering shows aggregate current draw and can integrate with remote monitoring systems where supported, enabling centralized visibility into rack power usage. This helps administrators plan load distribution evenly and detect abnormal power consumption early.

The unit occupies a horizontal 1U rackmount footprint in standard 19‑inch cabinets common to server rooms, IDF/MDF network closets, branch infrastructure racks, and colocation environments. Its compact form factor preserves vertical rack unit space for active systems while providing adequate receptacle density for servers, network appliances, and storage equipment.

Management interfaces deliver local metering readouts; remote interfaces may be available depending on deployment configuration to feed current and power information into broader monitoring systems. The AP7802B does not condition power or provide battery backup. It should be paired with an upstream uninterruptible power system where continuity through utility outages is required.

This PDU is not a UPS and does not maintain power during utility interruptions. It is not suitable for protecting against brownouts, blackouts, or voltage disturbances. For deployments that require power continuity, UPS platforms or combined UPS + PDU architectures should be used.
