Overview

The APC AP7902B is a managed, switched power distribution unit designed for tight rack deployments where remote control and sequencing of individual outlets are required. IT operations and infrastructure teams deploy this PDU in server cabinets, network closets, and edge racks to remotely power cycle hung devices, enforce startup sequences, and manage power distribution without physical access to equipment. It provides controlled AC distribution while enabling integrated monitoring of load values and outlet status.

This PDU accepts a 100–120 V AC input and distributes power through switched NEMA outlets sized for IT equipment. Individual outlet control allows administrators to isolate faults or reboot equipment remotely via secure network interfaces. Local metering displays aggregate current draw, helping to prevent overload conditions and enabling informed capacity planning in the rack.

The AP7902B occupies 1U of horizontal rack space, making it suitable for deployment in standard 19‑inch cabinets where space efficiency is important. The compact form factor supports deployment alongside servers, network switches, firewalls, storage arrays, and appliances without consuming additional vertical rack units that could be used by critical hardware.
