Overview

The Eaton SR18UB is a floor-standing rack enclosure designed to house standard 19-inch rack-mounted IT and network equipment in controlled and semi-controlled environments. It is deployed by infrastructure engineers and system integrators to provide physical security, structured mounting, and airflow management for servers, switches, and UPS systems in space-constrained installations.

The enclosure supports up to 18U of rack space with a mid-depth chassis designed for equipment up to approximately 32.5 inches deep. It provides a static and rolling load capacity of up to 1000 lb (454 kg), enabling support for dense server and power equipment deployments. Adjustable vertical mounting rails allow depth configuration from shallow networking gear to full-depth servers, ensuring compatibility across mixed IT hardware profiles.

This model is typically deployed in branch offices, network closets, edge sites, and small data rooms where a full-height cabinet is not practical. Its half-height form factor allows installation under desks or in confined floor spaces while still maintaining structured rack architecture. It is also used in retail, healthcare, and distributed enterprise environments where localized compute and network infrastructure is required.

The SR18UB integrates into standard rack ecosystems, supporting EIA-310-E compliant 19-inch equipment with square-hole mounting rails. It includes cable entry points at the top and bottom panels, enabling structured cable routing for power and network connections. The enclosure supports integration with rack PDUs, UPS systems, and cooling accessories, aligning with common single-phase rack power environments.

In a practical deployment, the enclosure can be used in an IDF closet to house access switches, patch panels, and a rack-mounted UPS. The adjustable rail depth allows proper alignment for both shallow network gear and deeper battery backup systems, while locking doors and panels maintain physical security in shared or unsecured areas.

This cabinet is not suitable for high-density data center rows requiring hot/cold aisle containment or for deployments needing full-height (42U+) scalability. It is also not intended for wall-mounted scenarios or environments requiring seismic-rated or shock-isolated enclosures.
