Overview :

APC AR3106 is a 19‑inch 18U server rack enclosure from the NetShelter SX family, designed for small IT rooms, branch offices, and space‑constrained data installations. Infrastructure engineers deploy it where a full‑sized cabinet isn’t necessary but secure rack mounting and equipment protection are required. The shorter frame addresses the need to house rack devices without occupying full 42U or larger cabinet footprints.

The enclosure provides adjustable vertical mounting rails compliant with EIA‑310 standards, supporting up to 18 rack units of equipment. It includes front and rear lockable doors, side panels, roof panel, casters, and leveling feet to complete a stand‑alone server rack installation. The rack’s usable mounting depth adjusts from ~7.5 in to ~36.3 in (~191 mm to ~921 mm), accommodating a wide range of network and server gear.

AR3106 fits environments such as IDF/MDF closets, branch IT closets, and edge compute rooms, where cooling and access are priorities and heavy centralized cabinets are impractical. The lower height enables placement under raised desktops or within confined infrastructure spaces while still providing enclosure security and physical protection.

Integration with IT infrastructure includes two zero‑U accessory channels for organizing cable management or peripheral mounting without consuming rack units and compatibility with standard rack PDUs and network switches. Paneling and locking doors help with physical security and airflow control where needed.

In a practical deployment, AR3106 is used to mount network switches, compact servers, PDUs, and patch panels in a regional office closet, with the adjustable rail depth tailored to specific equipment depths. The included leveling feet ensure stable placement on uneven floors, and casters assist initial positioning prior to final installation.

This rack should not be used in high‑density core data center aisles requiring 42U or taller enclosures, nor where seismic or extreme dynamic load requirements exist without proper structural evaluation. Its IP20 rating and passive ventilation do not provide dust sealing or environmental isolation for harsh environments.
