The APC SYPM2KU is a hot‑plug power module designed specifically for the APC Symmetra RM 2–6 kVA UPS family. It is deployed by data center engineers and facilities technicians to scale or maintain power capacity in modular UPS systems, addressing the need for continuous, clean AC power to critical racks and infrastructure. The modular design lets operators replace or add power modules without taking the entire UPS offline, reducing service disruption risk.

This module delivers a 2 kVA (2000 VA) power capability with 1.4 kW output and supports AC output voltages of 200 V, 208 V, and 230 V under double‑conversion online protection. The input is auto‑sensing between 50 Hz and 60 Hz with an operational voltage range of 155–276 V to handle utility fluctuations. Its form factor is a front‑insertion, 0 U plug‑in module engineered for parallel and redundant configurations within the Symmetra RM chassis.

This power module is intended for deployment within 2 U Symmetra RM UPS frames in data halls, command centers, and enterprise edge closets that require high‑availability backup power to servers, storage arrays, network switches, and virtualization hosts. It integrates into the modular UPS ecosystem and works alongside battery modules to tailor runtime and capacity to load requirements.

Integration with the Symmetra RM system is seamless — the module installs from the front of the UPS without tools, enabling serviceability and redundancy (e.g., N+1 configurations). Hot‑swap capability ensures that maintenance or upgrades do not interrupt protected loads.

In practical deployment, operators add one or more SYPM2KU modules to a Symmetra RM chassis to incrementally scale total VA/W capacity, matching the evolving needs of compute and IT loads across distributed racks. Redundant power modules improve uptime and provide load sharing under fault conditions.

This module is not suitable as a standalone UPS and cannot provide runtime without a compatible Symmetra RM chassis and appropriate battery modules; it also should not be used outside of the supported voltage ecosystems typical of Symmetra RM systems.
