Overview

The Eaton BPM125HW is a maintenance bypass power module (BPM) designed for centralized UPS deployments where continuous uptime during service or failure conditions is required. It is deployed by data center engineers and electrical infrastructure teams to allow safe UPS isolation without interrupting power to critical loads. This module addresses the operational risk of downtime during UPS maintenance, replacement, or fault conditions.

The BPM125HW provides a hardwired input/output architecture and operates in a split-phase power environment, enabling direct connection between utility power and downstream IT loads when the UPS is bypassed. It functions as both a maintenance bypass switch and power distribution point, ensuring uninterrupted load support during UPS service events.

Physically, the unit is built for 3U rackmount deployment within 19-inch EIA-standard racks, with optional wall-mount support depending on installation design. Its form factor aligns with enterprise UPS systems typically installed in MDFs, data centers, or industrial control environments where centralized power infrastructure is used.

Integration is specific to Eaton UPS platforms, including 9170+, 9155, and 9PX/9PXM (8–10 kVA) systems. The BPM enables maintenance bypass functionality required in higher-capacity UPS installations (typically >6 kVA), allowing power to flow directly from the utility to connected equipment without passing through the UPS.

A practical deployment includes installation between facility power and a rack-mounted UPS feeding servers or network infrastructure, allowing technicians to service or replace the UPS without shutting down connected equipment. This module is not suitable for standalone power distribution or small UPS systems that do not require external maintenance bypass capability.
