APC AP9871 is an IEC power lead designed to connect higher‑current computing equipment and rack PDUs to compatible mains feed receptacles. It is deployed by data center and facilities engineers where standardized IEC C19 load connections must be driven from NEMA L6‑20P power sources. The cord addresses structured power delivery needs in rack and cabinet environments without adapters or interim connectors.

Rated for up to 16 A line current at 200–240 V AC, AP9871 accommodates power levels common to UPS systems, PDUs, and enterprise servers. Its heavier conductors (typically 12‑AWG equivalent) support greater current than standard 10 A leads and help manage voltage drop over longer runs.

The cable terminates in a NEMA L6‑20P male locking plug on the supply side and a single IEC 60320 C19 female connector on the load side. Length is approximately 3.7 m (12 ft), permitting routing in larger racks, between under‑floor power banks, or from overhead bus ducts to equipment in dense enclosures.

Construction consists of a black, molded jacketed cable configured for indoor rack power infrastructure use. It does not include cord management hardware but is compatible with standard cable support methods such as ties and clips.

In deployment, this lead serves as the primary feed from dedicated 20 A branch circuits (L6‑20) to high‑draw devices such as high‑density servers or PDUs requiring C19 inlets. It is unsuitable where NEMA 5‑15 outlets are the only building feed or where harsh outdoor/hazardous‑location ratings are mandated.
