The Ubiquiti U5G is a compact UniFi 5G Backup device that provides automatic cellular internet failover for UniFi networks. It combines 5G RedCap and 4G LTE connectivity with a single Gigabit Ethernet port and PoE power, allowing the device to connect to a UniFi PoE port and provide a cellular backup path when the primary internet connection becomes unavailable. The U5G supports one Nano-SIM and one eSIM and uses two embedded omnidirectional cellular antennas. 5G Standalone connectivity provides peak speeds of up to 220 Mbps downlink and 120 Mbps uplink, while 4G LTE provides up to 195 Mbps downlink and 100 Mbps uplink.
The U5G uses 5G RedCap rather than conventional high-throughput 5G NR. Its supported 5G bands include n2, n5, n7, n12, n13, n14, n25, n26, n30, n38, n41, n48, n66, n71, n77, and n78. LTE support includes B2, B4, B5, B7, B12, B13, B14, B25, B26, B30, B38, B41, B42, B43, B48, B66, and B71. The device has a 1.14-inch status display, factory-reset button, and Ethernet management. It operates from PoE and is designed for placement where cellular signal conditions are suitable rather than requiring installation directly beside the primary UniFi gateway.
The U5G provides one Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port and one PoE input. Ubiquiti describes it as a compact antenna system that plugs into a UniFi PoE port to provide automatic internet backup. It can be installed using the included desktop stand, wall mount, or window mount. The device supports both physical Nano-SIM and eSIM connectivity. Ubiquiti notes that 5G connectivity requires carrier-specific 5G Standalone and RedCap subscription support; otherwise, the device operates using LTE fallback.

The Ubiquiti U5G is a cellular internet backup and connectivity device, not a conventional 5G Wi-Fi access point, Ethernet switch, or standalone cellular router with integrated LAN switching. It is designed to provide cellular WAN backup within a UniFi network and receives power through PoE.
