Overview

The APC by Schneider Electric AP7540 is a basic rack power distribution unit (PDU) providing high‑density AC outlet provisioning in a vertical, zero‑U format for structured IT environments. Designed for 208 V AC mains typical of North American and international data center floor distribution, AP7540 supports a maximum branch current of 20 A. It provides twenty IEC 60320 C13 receptacles and four IEC 60320 C19 receptacles, allowing connection of a mix of standard and higher‑current loads such as servers, storage nodes, and network appliances. The inclusion of multiple outlet types in a single unit simplifies planning and minimizes the need for external adapters.

The unit’s form factor is zero‑U with vertical rack mounting, enabling it to install on the rear channels of 19″ EIA‑310 compliant enclosures without occupying usable rack units. Tool‑less mounting hardware is included to facilitate rapid installation while preserving space for active equipment. AP7540 is a passive distribution device with no integrated surge suppression or remote outlet control; it is intended strictly for basic outlet provisioning. The black metal housing and standard mounting orientation comply with typical indoor IT room environmental ratings. Users should not deploy this PDU in hazardous, outdoor, or wet environments without appropriate enclosures and protection.

In practice, AP7540 is applied to power clusters of servers, switches, and infrastructure gear from a dedicated 208 V feed in main distribution frames (MDFs), data halls, or high‑density rack zones.
