Overview

The Eaton PDUMH30 is a horizontal, single‑phase metered rack power distribution unit (PDU) engineered for standardized IT racks where consolidated power distribution and on‑rack load visibility are required. It is deployed by data center operators, network architects, and IT facilities engineers to distribute AC power while displaying real‑time input current to prevent branch overloads and aid capacity planning. It does not provide network management or per‑outlet control, focusing instead on localized metering.

This unit is rated 120 V AC at 24 A continuous (agency‑derated) input, yielding a total capacity of 2.88 kW, delivered through twelve NEMA 5‑15/20R outlets arranged across two breakered load banks. A 15‑ft (4.57 m) attached cord with NEMA L5‑30P input plug feeds the PDU from UPS, facility, or generator power sources. On‑rack two‑digit current meter provides visual load monitoring to help detect approaching capacity limits.

Mechanically, the PDUMH30 installs in 1U of 19‑inch EIA rack space and includes reversible mounting flanges supporting 1U horizontal rack, 0U vertical, wall, or under‑counter orientations depending on system layout and available rack depth. Its shallow housing reduces intrusion into usable rack space compared to deeper PDUs.

Integration is specific to physical power distribution; there is no remote network interface, outlet switching, nor per‑outlet metering. It interoperates with upstream UPS and mains power infrastructure, but it is not a managed PDU and does not participate in centralized DCIM or power management platforms. It’s built for environments where local current visibility suffices for load balancing at the rack level.

A practical deployment is in small to medium data center racks, branch office wiring closets, or equipment cabinets feeding servers, storage, and network switches where centralized PDU management isn’t required but rack‑level load awareness aids capacity planning. It is not suitable for applications requiring network‑based monitoring, remote outlet control, per‑outlet metering, dual A/B power feeds, or non‑120 V distribution (e.g., 208/230 V environments).
