The ASUS QG-U1080 is a compact, unmanaged Ethernet switch designed to increase wired network capacity in small offices, creator workstations, NAS deployments, and home networks. It provides eight 2.5GBASE-T RJ45 ports and two 10Gb SFP+ ports for connecting compatible copper Ethernet devices and high-speed fiber or direct-attach uplinks.
The eight RJ45 ports support 100Mbps, 1Gbps, and 2.5Gbps Ethernet. ASUS lists support for IEEE 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3bz, 802.3az, and 802.3x standards, along with a 16K-entry MAC address table, an 8Mbit packet buffer, and 10KB jumbo frames. The specified forwarding rate is 59.52 million packets per second for 64-byte packets.
The switch is designed for desktop installation and uses an external 12V/1A power adapter. Its compact white enclosure measures 193 × 84.1 × 26mm and weighs 420g. The two SFP+ ports can support 10Gbps connections, with 1Gbps link support also specified. Compatible SFP+ transceivers or direct-attach cables may be required, depending on the connected equipment.

The QG-U1080 is an unmanaged switch, not a fully managed Layer 2 or Layer 3 switch. Do not assume it supports VLAN configuration, routing, SNMP, centralized management, or PoE output unless ASUS documentation for the exact model explicitly confirms the feature. The product does not provide PoE power to connected access points or other devices.
The SFP+ ports require compatible transceivers, fiber connections, or direct-attach cables appropriate for the deployment. Verify module compatibility, cable type, link speed, and the connected device's interface before ordering. A 2.5Gbps connection also requires a compatible network adapter and suitable cabling; actual throughput depends on the complete network path.
How many ports does the ASUS QG-U1080 provide?
It provides eight 2.5GbE RJ45 ports and two 10Gb SFP+ ports.
Can it connect to standard Gigabit Ethernet devices?
Yes. The RJ45 ports support 100Mbps and 1Gbps links as well as 2.5Gbps, allowing connections to compatible devices operating at lower speeds.
Does the switch support fiber-optic networking?
Its two SFP+ ports support compatible SFP+ transceivers or direct-attach cables. Fiber connectivity depends on the selected modules and the connected equipment.
Is the QG-U1080 a managed switch?
No. ASUS identifies it as an unmanaged switch. Its advertised intelligent functions do not make it equivalent to a fully managed switch with a complete VLAN, routing, and monitoring feature set.
Does it provide Power over Ethernet?
No PoE output is specified in ASUS's technical specifications. Use separate PoE injectors or a PoE-capable switch if connected devices require power over Ethernet.
What power supply does it require?
It uses the supplied external power adapter rated at 12V/1A. Use the appropriate adapter supplied for the product and regional package.
