Overview :
The INTELLINET 509183 is a Gigabit Ethernet fiber media converter designed to interconnect fiber networks using two user-selectable SFP transceivers. Its dual empty SFP slots provide deployment flexibility for a wide range of single-mode and multi-mode fiber applications without locking the installation to a specific optical module.
The converter supports Gigabit Ethernet transmission using 1.25 Gbps Mini-GBIC (SFP) modules and enables conversion between different fiber wavelengths, including 850 nm, 1310 nm, and 1550 nm, as well as multi-mode to single-mode fiber links. Depending on the installed SFP modules, transmission distances can reach up to 100 km. Hot-swappable SFP support allows module replacement without interrupting network maintenance.
Its compact metal enclosure allows standalone desktop deployment or installation in the INTELLINET 14-slot Media Converter Chassis (Model 507356). Plug-and-play operation eliminates configuration requirements, making it suitable for enterprise networks, campus backbones, surveillance infrastructure, and edge connectivity.
The 509183 is compatible with standard Gigabit 1.25 Gbps SFP transceivers. It should not be used for 10 Gigabit SFP+ modules or applications requiring integrated copper Ethernet ports, as the device provides fiber SFP interfaces only.
