The HP C5718A is a DDS-4 (Digital Data Storage, 4 mm) data cartridge designed for engineers and IT infrastructure teams performing routine backups or archiving on compatible DAT/DDS drives. It supports a native capacity of 20 GB and a compressed capacity up to 40 GB, giving a compact medium for system image or file-level backups. With 150 m of tape length, this cartridge is suited to departmental servers, small data-centres or edge backup systems where legacy DAT/DDS hardware remains in service. It integrates transparently into cartridges, autoloaders or libraries that support DDS-4 format, and fits into existing workflows without introducing new drive types or formats.
