Overview :

The HP C7978A cleaning cartridge is designed for routine maintenance of LTO Ultrium tape drives and libraries, supporting generations LTO‑1 through LTO‑8. It removes debris and contaminants from the tape path and read/write heads, helping reduce read/write errors and extending drive life in demanding environments. The cartridge supports up to 50 cleaning cycles in compatible drives and is compatible with HP and non‑HP Ultrium libraries and drives. The compact form factor allows easy integration into data centre routines, helping operators maintain optimal tape system performance, especially in automated libraries where throughput and reliability matter. It is suitable for enterprise backup, archive and long‑term storage systems, used across branch, data centre and archival campus environments to ensure media handling integrity.
