Overview

APC NBES0301 is a wired spot fluid detection sensor designed for localized leak monitoring in data centers, network closets, and critical IT environments. Infrastructure and facilities teams deploy this sensor to detect liquid presence at specific high-risk points such as beneath cooling systems, near piping, or around rack power infrastructure where early leak detection is essential.

The device uses a single-point spot detection mechanism connected through a 15 ft (4.57 m) sensor cable. When liquid contacts the detection surface, the connected NetBotz monitoring appliance immediately registers the event and triggers alarms or alerts configured within the monitoring platform. This enables early mitigation of water-related incidents that could affect servers, networking equipment, or power distribution systems.

NBES0301 connects using an RJ-45 sensor interface to compatible NetBotz appliances or sensor pods. The cable length allows flexible placement around rack infrastructure, under raised floors, or near condensate drain paths while maintaining connection to the monitoring device. If longer placement distance is required, the sensor cable can be extended using standard CAT5/CAT6 cable up to approximately 100 ft from the monitoring appliance.

Physically compact, the sensor housing measures approximately 64 × 64 × 25 mm, allowing placement in confined spaces such as equipment bases or floor cavities. The design supports unobtrusive deployment without affecting airflow or rack space usage. Installation typically involves securing the cable and sensor using the included mounting accessories such as cable ties.

In operational environments, this type of spot sensor is commonly installed near CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water lines, condensate pumps, and rack power infrastructure where localized leaks are most likely to occur. It complements rope-style leak sensors by providing precise detection at critical points rather than monitoring an extended linear path.

NBES0301 is not a standalone monitoring device. It requires connection to a compatible NetBotz monitoring appliance or sensor pod that supplies power, event logging, and alerting functions. The sensor itself performs detection only and does not include independent network communication or environmental monitoring capabilities.
