Overview :

The APC SMTL750RM2UC is a line-interactive rackmount UPS designed to provide regulated backup power for small rack-mounted IT infrastructure such as servers, network switches, and edge computing devices. It is commonly deployed by network administrators and infrastructure engineers who require reliable power continuity in compact rack environments where space depth and rack capacity are limited.

This UPS provides 750VA / 600W output capacity with a pure sine wave output, ensuring compatibility with modern servers, networking hardware, and active-PFC power supplies. The line-interactive topology incorporates Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct voltage fluctuations without immediately switching to battery power, preserving battery life and maintaining stable power delivery. The system operates on a 120V power infrastructure and accepts an input voltage range of approximately 82–144V AC, connecting through a NEMA 5-15P input plug.

The SMTL750RM2UC includes six NEMA 5-15R battery-protected outlets, enabling direct connection of rack servers, routers, switches, or power distribution units. Transfer time between utility power and battery operation is typically 6 ms, ensuring minimal disruption to connected equipment during outages.

This model is part of APC’s Smart-UPS Lithium-Ion series, utilizing Li-ion battery technology rather than traditional sealed lead-acid batteries. Lithium-ion batteries provide longer service life (approximately 5–10 years), faster recharge cycles, and lower maintenance requirements compared to conventional UPS batteries. Recharge time is typically around 3 hours, enabling quicker recovery after discharge events.

The UPS integrates with APC management platforms through USB, RJ-45 serial communication, and a SmartSlot expansion interface, enabling deployment of optional network management cards for remote monitoring and shutdown control. The system also includes SmartConnect remote monitoring, allowing administrators to receive alerts and status notifications from distributed UPS deployments.

In practical deployments, the SMTL750RM2UC is typically installed in short-depth network racks, telecom cabinets, and edge compute environments where rack depth is limited but reliable UPS protection is still required.
