Overview
APC SMT1000C is a line-interactive uninterruptible power supply designed to protect critical IT equipment and network devices from power disturbances, brownouts, and utility outages. IT administrators and small business technicians deploy this UPS to maintain uptime for servers, workstations, storage appliances, and communication equipment in environments operating on 120 V AC power.
The unit provides 1000 VA / 700 W output capacity with a pure sine-wave output, making it compatible with modern server-grade power supplies and active PFC loads. Its line-interactive topology incorporates Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct undervoltage and overvoltage conditions without switching to battery support, preserving battery energy for actual outage events.
Physically, SMT1000C uses a tower form factor, suitable for placement under desks, beside equipment racks, or near networking closets. Power input is delivered through a NEMA 5-15P connector, and the rear panel provides six NEMA 5-15R outlets×all delivering both surge protection and battery-backed power for connected loads.
Management interfaces include USB and serial communications ports to integrate with software that automates controlled shutdowns and provides status reporting. The unit also supports SmartConnect remote monitoring, enabling cloud-based visibility into UPS health and event notifications without additional on-premises management hardware.
A sealed lead-acid battery module delivers approximately 7-8 minutes runtime at half load and ~3-4 minutes at full load, giving administrators sufficient time to save work and perform orderly shutdowns during power interruptions. Batteries are hot-swappable and user-replaceable, with typical recharge times of around 3 hours after a discharge event.
This UPS is intended for small offices, branch IT closets, and workgroup server deployments requiring moderate power protection. It is not designed for high-density data center racks or applications requiring extended runtime beyond what internal batteries can support.
