Overview

APC SMX2200RMHV2U is a rack-mount line-interactive uninterruptible power supply designed to provide battery-backed power protection for rack-based IT infrastructure operating in 208–240 V electrical environments. Data center technicians and network engineers deploy this UPS to protect servers, storage systems, and network switching equipment from power interruptions, voltage fluctuations, and electrical disturbances that could otherwise cause downtime or equipment damage.

The UPS provides 2200 VA / 1980 W output capacity with a pure sine-wave output, ensuring compatibility with modern server-grade power supplies using active PFC circuitry. Its line-interactive topology integrates Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct undervoltage and overvoltage conditions without switching to battery operation, preserving battery runtime during extended utility instability.

The unit installs into standard 19-inch equipment racks occupying 2U of vertical rack space and can also operate in tower orientation when rack deployment is not available. Power input is delivered through an IEC 60320 C20 connector, while the rear panel provides nine battery-backed output connections, including eight IEC C13 outlets and one IEC C19 outlet, enabling connection of servers, network appliances, or rack-level PDUs within the 230 V power ecosystem.

Management interfaces include USB and serial communication ports along with a SmartSlot expansion interface for optional network management cards. These interfaces allow administrators to monitor UPS status, configure alarms, and automate safe shutdown procedures for connected systems during extended outages.

The internal maintenance-free sealed lead-acid battery module provides approximately 9.8 minutes of runtime at full load and about 25 minutes at half load, allowing sufficient time for graceful shutdown of servers or short-duration ride-through during facility power transitions. The batteries are hot-swappable and typically recharge within about 3 hours after discharge.

This UPS is designed for racks operating within 208–240 V single-phase power infrastructure using IEC connectors. It is not suitable for deployments restricted to 120 V NEMA-based electrical systems or for low-power desktop equipment installations where a smaller tower UPS would be more appropriate.
