Overview

APC SMX2000RMLV2UNC is a rack-mount line-interactive uninterruptible power supply designed to deliver battery-backed power protection for servers, network switches, and storage appliances installed in 19-inch rack cabinets. IT infrastructure teams deploy this UPS in server rooms and edge computing racks to maintain power continuity during utility failures and to stabilize voltage fluctuations affecting sensitive equipment.

The UPS provides 2000 VA / 1800 W output capacity and operates within the 120 V AC power ecosystem, delivering pure sine-wave output compatible with modern server-grade power supplies and active PFC loads. Its line-interactive topology incorporates automatic voltage regulation to correct low- and high-voltage conditions without switching to battery operation, extending battery life and preserving runtime during short disturbances.

The chassis occupies 2U of rack space and installs into standard 19-inch equipment racks. It is rack/tower convertible and includes rail hardware for cabinet installation. Power input is delivered through a NEMA 5-20P connector, while the rear panel provides seven protected outlets: three NEMA 5-15R, three NEMA 5-20R, and one NEMA L5-20R for connecting rack-mounted devices or downstream PDUs.

Integrated management interfaces include USB and serial communication ports, along with a SmartSlot expansion interface supporting network management cards. The SMX2000RMLV2UNC variant includes a pre-installed network management card, allowing administrators to monitor UPS status, configure alarms, and perform remote shutdown operations through network protocols such as SNMP or HTTPS.

The unit contains a maintenance-free sealed lead-acid battery module delivering approximately 10–11 minutes runtime at full load and up to about 27 minutes at half load. Batteries are user-replaceable and hot-swappable, and the system supports external battery packs (SMX120RMBP2U) for extended runtime in environments requiring longer outage protection.

This UPS is intended for racks supplied by 120 V circuits capable of supporting a 20-amp connection due to the NEMA 5-20P input plug. It is not appropriate for environments limited to standard 15-amp receptacles unless the electrical infrastructure is upgraded to meet the power requirements of the device.
