Overview
The Eaton SMART1000RMXL2U is a line-interactive UPS designed for rack-mounted IT, networking, and telecom equipment operating in 120 V single-phase environments. It is deployed by infrastructure engineers to protect servers, switches, and storage systems from short outages, voltage sags, and overvoltage conditions. The unit uses automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to stabilize input power without unnecessary battery usage, preserving runtime capacity for actual outages.
This model provides 1000 VA / 900 W output capacity with pure sine-wave output, supporting modern IT loads that require stable waveform characteristics. AVR maintains usable output across a wide input range, while fast transfer to battery (~4 ms) ensures continuity during power loss events.
The UPS is built in a 2U rackmount/tower convertible chassis, designed for standard 19″ racks in IDF, MDF, and edge environments. It includes eight NEMA 5-15R outlets, supporting distributed device connections within a rack. The front LCD interface provides detailed operational data including load levels, voltage conditions, and battery status, assisting with commissioning and diagnostics.
Integration includes USB and DB9 serial interfaces, an EPO port, and an optional SNMP/Web network management card slot for remote monitoring and automated shutdown. The UPS also supports load segmentation, allowing selective reboot or load shedding of non-critical equipment to preserve runtime for priority systems.
In deployment, the SMART1000RMXL2U provides short-duration runtime (~6 minutes at full load, ~18 minutes at half load) for controlled shutdown or generator transfer. It supports external battery modules for extended runtime where required. It is not intended as a long-duration standalone backup solution without additional battery expansion.
