Overview

The Eaton SM1500RMXL2UTAA is a 1500 VA / 1350 W line‑interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed to protect rack‑mounted servers, storage, networking gear, and critical edge devices against power anomalies such as brownouts, blackouts, surges, and electrical noise. It is typically deployed by IT engineers, data center technicians, and infrastructure teams requiring regulated conditioned AC power with short battery support to preserve uptime and enable orderly shutdowns.

This UPS uses automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to correct undervoltages and overvoltages (approximately 83 V–145 V input range) without immediately engaging the battery, reducing unnecessary discharge and preserving reserve capacity for actual outages. Output is delivered at nominal 120 V AC with a 0.9 power factor through eight NEMA 5‑15R outlets, four of which are remotely switchable via management interfaces.

The 2U rack/tower convertible chassis includes a front‑panel rotatable LCD for real‑time power and status metrics, as well as USB and serial (DB9) ports for host integration and safe unattended shutdown coordination using Eaton’s PowerAlert software. A built‑in EPO (Emergency Power Off) interface supports rapid remote shutdown when needed.

Internal batteries are hot‑swappable, enabling service and replacement without disrupting protected loads. Typical internal battery runtime is approximately 14 min at half load (675 W) and ~4.9 min at full load (1350 W); runtime can be extended with compatible external battery packs if longer support is required.

This model is TAA compliant, supporting federal procurement requirements where applicable. It is not engineered for 208/230 V power systems — select a volt‑appropriate variant for non‑120 V infrastructure.
