The Seagate IronWolf Pro ST24000NT002 is a high-capacity 24TB hard drive built for network-attached storage (NAS), business file sharing, and demanding multi-user storage environments. Its 3.5-inch form factor, SATA 6Gb/s interface, 7200 RPM spindle speed, and 512MB cache make it suitable for compatible NAS systems that require substantial storage capacity and sustained operation.
Designed for NAS and Business Storage
IronWolf Pro drives are designed for NAS environments where multiple users and applications access stored data. The ST24000NT002 combines high capacity with conventional magnetic recording (CMR), rotational vibration sensors, and a helium-sealed drive design to support suitable NAS and storage-server configurations.
Key Features
- 24TB capacity: Provides substantial space for shared files, business documents, media libraries, backups, and archived data.
- SATA 6Gb/s interface: Connects to compatible SATA storage controllers and NAS drive bays.
- 7200 RPM spindle speed: Supports responsive access for demanding storage workloads.
- 512MB cache: Helps manage data transfers and drive operations.
- CMR recording technology: Conventional magnetic recording is suitable for supported NAS and RAID storage configurations.
- Rotational vibration sensors: Help the drive manage vibration in multi-drive storage enclosures.
- Helium-sealed design: Supports the drive's high-capacity internal design.
- Designed for continuous operation: Intended for NAS environments that may operate around the clock.
- IronWolf Pro family: Developed for professional NAS and shared-storage applications.
Suitable Applications
- Compatible multi-bay NAS systems
- Small and medium business file servers
- Centralised team file storage and collaboration
- Large media libraries and content repositories
- Backup repositories and long-term data storage
- Compatible RAID-based NAS systems
Reliability and Data Integrity
The ST24000NT002 is specified with a workload rate limit of 550TB per year and a mean time between failures (MTBF) rating of 2.5 million hours. These are manufacturer reliability and workload ratings, not a guarantee of an individual drive's lifespan. Maintain independent backups of important data, and verify RAID or NAS redundancy settings before placing the drive into service.
Compatibility Considerations
Before installation, confirm that your NAS, server, or storage enclosure supports 24TB drives and the 3.5-inch SATA form factor. Check the storage controller, operating system, RAID configuration, and drive compatibility list. Systems may require updated firmware or software to recognise the full capacity. This model uses a SATA interface; it is not a SAS drive.

DC Supplies Product Note
For the best installation experience, verify the exact model number ST24000NT002 and confirm 24TB support with your NAS or server manufacturer. For business-critical files, use a tested backup strategy in addition to any RAID or drive-redundancy arrangement.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the capacity of the Seagate ST24000NT002?
This IronWolf Pro hard drive has a rated capacity of 24TB.
2. Is the ST24000NT002 suitable for NAS systems?
Yes. It is designed for NAS and shared-storage environments, provided the NAS supports this model or compatible 24TB SATA drives.
3. Which interface does this hard drive use?
It uses a SATA 6Gb/s interface. Check your enclosure or controller before purchase to confirm compatibility.
4. Does this drive use CMR recording?
Yes. The manufacturer specifies conventional magnetic recording (CMR) for this model.
5. Does the drive include data recovery service?
The product specification lists three years of Rescue Data Recovery Services, subject to eligibility, regional availability, and Seagate's service terms. Confirm the terms applicable to the unit being purchased.
6. Can I use this drive in any desktop computer?
Not automatically. A desktop must support a 3.5-inch SATA drive and have adequate power, physical clearance, and software support for the drive's capacity. NAS-oriented features are most relevant in compatible multi-drive storage systems.
