Overview
The Seagate BarraCuda ST1000LM049 is a 1TB internal hard drive designed for compatible laptops and other systems that support 2.5-inch SATA storage devices. Its 7mm height makes it suitable for systems requiring a slim internal drive, while its 7200RPM spindle speed supports traditional mechanical storage workloads.
This model provides additional storage capacity for documents, applications, media files, and general-purpose computing data.
Technical Information
The drive uses a SATA 6Gb/s interface and includes a 128MB cache buffer. Seagate specifies a sustained data transfer rate of up to 160MB/s. Actual performance depends on workload, system configuration, and operating conditions.
As a mechanical hard drive, its performance characteristics differ from those of solid-state drives. It is suited to systems designed for conventional SATA hard-drive storage.
Compatibility and Installation
The ST1000LM049 uses a 2.5-inch form factor and has a nominal height of 7mm. Before installation, confirm that the computer or enclosure supports a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive and accommodates the drive's physical dimensions.
Some laptops use proprietary mounting brackets or require specific installation procedures. Check the system manufacturer's documentation before replacing an existing drive. Operating-system installation, data migration, and drive formatting may be required depending on the intended use.

DC Supplies Product Note
Check the original drive's height before ordering. Although many systems accept 2.5-inch SATA drives, some require a particular thickness or a specific mounting bracket. Confirming these physical requirements helps avoid installation problems.
