The StarTech ET1000S40LC2 is a standalone Gigabit Ethernet to single‑mode fiber media converter that enables long‑distance network extension by converting 1000Base‑T (copper) to 1000Base‑LX/SX (single‑mode fiber). It supports full 1 Gbps throughput and extends connectivity up to 40 km (24.8 mi) over single‑mode LC fiber, making it suitable for campus links, remote building connectivity, industrial networks, and surveillance backbones where fiber cabling is preferable. The unit operates in full‑ or half‑duplex modes and provides auto‑MDIX on the RJ45 interface for flexible deployment without crossover cables. It can be deployed as a standalone desktop converter or mounted into a StarTech ETCHS2U rack chassis for consolidated installations. Do NOT use for 10G+ links; this device is strictly 1 GbE.
