Overview

The Eaton N784-MDC-1STST is a 100 Mbps fiber optic media converter designed for ST-to-ST duplex fiber connectivity in enterprise, campus, and legacy network infrastructures. It enables reliable multimode-to-singlemode fiber conversion for extending optical links where copper Ethernet is not feasible.

This unit supports transmission distances up to 10 km depending on optical configuration and fiber type. It is commonly used in industrial networks, campus backbone extensions, and legacy data-center environments where ST connector-based fiber systems are still deployed.

The device operates as a plug-and-play converter with LED status indicators for power, link, and diagnostics. It is housed in a rugged metal enclosure for continuous operation in controlled IT environments and supports standard AC power input via external adapter.

This model is strictly limited to 100 Mbps fiber operation and is not compatible with Gigabit, SFP, or modern high-density optical switching architectures.
