The BUFFALO HD-WH8TU3R1 DriveStation Duo is an 8TB external storage system built with two 4TB internal hard drives. It connects to computers and compatible storage environments through USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 and supports RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD configurations.
8TB Two-Drive Storage
The HD-WH8TU3R1 contains 2 internal drives, each with 4TB of capacity, rather than a single 8TB disk. The internal drives use SATA 3Gbps interfaces and are configured within the DriveStation Duo enclosure.
RAID and Storage Modes
Buffalo supports RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD on the HD-WH8TU3R1. RAID 1 can provide mirrored storage across the two drives, while RAID 0 combines the drives into a striped array. JBOD allows the individual disks to be used separately.
USB 3.0 Connectivity
The enclosure provides one USB Type-A port supporting USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. USB 3.0 has a maximum interface rate of 5Gbps, while USB 2.0 supports up to 480Mbps.
Key Features
- 8TB total capacity using two 4TB internal hard drives
- RAID 0, RAID 1 and JBOD storage configurations
- USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity with one Type-A port
- SATA 3Gbps internal drive interface
- Internal AC 100–240V universal power supply
Typical Applications
The HD-WH8TU3R1 is suited to desktop backup, centralized external storage, server backup, office file storage, and other environments where two-drive storage with selectable RAID modes is useful.
DC Supplies Product Note
The HD-WH8TU3R1 is specifically an 8TB two-drive configuration, with the capacity provided by two 4TB disks. This is important when planning RAID storage because the usable capacity depends on the selected RAID mode rather than simply matching the stated 8TB raw capacity.
