Overview :

The StarTech FD121-KVM-EXTENDER is a professional-grade KVM console extender designed to facilitate the remote operation of a DisplayPort-equipped computer or KVM switch over long distances. Utilizing fiber optic cabling, this kit allows for point-to-point extension up to 984ft (300m) using the included multi-mode SFP+ modules. By using fiber as the transmission medium, the system provides complete immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI), making it ideal for industrial, medical, and secure government environments.

The extender supports Ultra HD resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz (4:4:4) with DisplayPort 1.2 compliance. It features EDID pass-through to ensure that the source device receives accurate display information, maintaining optimal signal integrity and resolution. The receiver unit (Remote) includes a built-in 3-port USB HID hub, specifically optimized for connecting keyboards, mice, and other standard human interface devices for low-latency remote control.

This hardware-based solution is OS-independent and requires no software or drivers for installation. The SFP+ slots are MSA-compliant, allowing the pre-installed multi-mode modules to be swapped for single-mode SFP+ modules (sold separately) to extend the range up to 1,640ft (500m). The transmitter and receiver are housed in rugged steel chassis to withstand rigorous deployment in server rooms or manufacturing facilities.
