Overview :

The Eaton NGS8C2POE-1 is a Web-Smart Layer 2 managed Gigabit Ethernet switch featuring Power over Ethernet (PoE+) capability from the Tripp Lite series. Network administrators and infrastructure deployment engineers utilize this hardware to scale localized network connections while consolidating power distribution to edge devices. By integrating in-line power and granular traffic engineering tools, it simplifies cable architectures and isolates broadcast traffic within industrial or retail network closets.

The platform provides a total switching capacity of 20 Gbps, maintaining a 2 Gbps full-duplex transmission rate per interface. The physical layout consists of eight auto-negotiating 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports and two dedicated Gigabit SFP slots for fiber or copper backbone uplinks. Every RJ45 port supports up to 30W of Type 2 PoE+ across a total thermal and electrical budget of 140W. Configuration is managed via an embedded browser interface that handles VLAN segmentation, IGMP snooping, link aggregation, and web-smart quality of service (QoS) routing.

The heavy-duty metal chassis supports dual-use installation, adapting to a standard 1U horizontal orientation inside EIA 19-inch equipment racks using the provided brackets, or positioning on flat surfaces utilizing non-slip rubber feet. It operates with active thermal monitoring via a built-in internal cooling fan to dissipate heat under sustained maximum PoE delivery. The chassis is equipped with an integrated IEC C14 inlet and ships with a matching five-foot C13-to-C14 power cord for direct PDU coupling.

The switch interfaces natively with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and Cat8 twisted-pair cabling infrastructure, while its Mini-GBIC slots accept standard 1000BASE-SX/LX SFP transceivers. It incorporates automated device recovery logic that pings offline PoE endpoints and cycles power to restore them. This switch must not be used in architectures requiring higher Layer 3 dynamic routing protocols, non-standard high-density multi-gigabit copper speeds, or in fanless white-space deployments where active cooling acoustics would disturb operations.
