The Eaton Tripp Lite NGI-M08POE8-L2 is a ruggedized, Layer 2 managed industrial Gigabit Ethernet switch engineered for harsh operational environments and critical automation networks. System integrators and industrial procurement teams deploy this hardened switch to build resilient edge networks in manufacturing floors, water treatment facilities, oil and gas operations, and transport hubs. It solves the problem of connecting and powering remote network devices under extreme temperatures, electrical noise, and physical vibration without risking costly infrastructure downtime.

Equipped with eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, the device provides Power over Ethernet (PoE+) compliant with IEEE 802.3at, delivering up to 30W per port. The total available PoE budget scales directly with system input, supplying 120W at 24VDC or up to 240W at 48VDC. Network administrators leverage Layer 2 management capacities—including IGMP snooping, MAC address auto-learning, QoS prioritization, and IEEE 802.3x flow control—via a command-line interface (CLI) or an independent browser-based web GUI. The unit features dual 6-pin terminal blocks for redundant 24–57VDC power integration, paired with an integrated alarm relay that instantly triggers external alerts upon power circuit failure.

Housed in a compact IP30-rated aluminum casing, the switch includes a pre-installed heavy-duty DIN-rail mounting clip for standard 35 mm rail systems. It handles extreme operating temperatures from -40° to 175°F and resists high electrostatic discharges (±8kV air, ±4kV contact). Do not deploy this switch in applications requiring Layer 3 routing or direct fiber-optic trunk terminations, as it lacks dedicated SFP slot expansion. It is restricted to localized copper-based edge distribution and must not be submerged or exposed to direct outdoor weathering without an external NEMA-rated enclosure.
