Overview

The HPE JL280A is a high‑density 1RU switch module designed for data‑centre and cloud network fabrics where large‑scale east‑west traffic, high‑speed uplinks, and disaggregated/open‑network architectures are required. It features 32 QSFP28 ports, each capable of 100 Gbps, which can also support breakout configurations (for example 4 × 25 GbE) to cater for server‑access or spine roles depending on the deployment. The design supports reversible airflow (back‑to‑front or front‑to‑back) to align with hot‑ and cold‑aisle data‑centre layouts and includes dual redundant power supplies and fan modules for high availability. The unit boots via ONIE (Open Network Install Environment) enabling deployment of a choice of network operating systems and integration with modern automation and orchestration frameworks. It is suited for spine, leaf or high‑density aggregation tiers in hyperscale, enterprise or service‑provider networks and supports VXLAN and overlay environments for flexible multi‑tenant or multi‑fabric operations.
