Overview

The HPE E7Y73C is a high-density SAN extension switch engineered for enterprise and data-centre storage fabrics where protocol flexibility, low latency, and high throughput are essential. It provides 24 × 16 Gbps Fibre Channel ports, 16 × 1/10 GbE ports, and 2 × 40 GbE QSFP+ uplinks in a single 2U rack-mount chassis, supporting up to 768 Gbps aggregate bandwidth and cut-through latency around 700 ns. The switch integrates hot-swappable dual AC power supplies, modular fans, and back-to-front airflow to fit standard data-centre racks. It is designed for storage replication, disaster-recovery and multi-site SAN extension scenarios, combining FC and Ethernet fabrics under unified management. Advanced features include FCIP tunnelling, ISL trunking, adaptive networking, and optional compression or encryption, enabling secure and efficient extension of block-storage fabrics across metro or WAN links. The E7Y73C fits in core SAN racks, DR sites, and multi-site interconnects while leveraging the existing HPE StoreFabric ecosystem for management, monitoring, and diagnostics.
