Overview
The TRENDnet TPE-P521ES is a 5-Port Gigabit EdgeSmart Switch engineered for scenarios where traditional power sources are unavailable. This device is powered directly by an upstream PoE+ switch or injector via its dedicated PoE+ input port, completely eliminating the need for a local AC adapter. Its primary function is to extend network connectivity and power to edge devices in locations like hallways, ceilings, or remote enclosures, making it ideal for deployments of IP cameras, VoIP phones, and wireless access points. A key technical advantage of this switch is its PoE pass-through capability. It intelligently draws power compliant with the IEEE 802.3at standard and distributes it to two of its Gigabit output ports. This allows the switch to deliver a total power budget of 18W to connected PoE devices. The TPE-P521ES simplifies network administration through its EdgeSmart management platform, which provides an intuitive, web-based interface for configuring essential features like VLANs, QoS, and IGMP Snooping without the complexity of a full command-line interface.
