TRENDnet TEG-S708 8-Port 10G Unmanaged Switch
Overview :
The TRENDnet TEG-S708 is an unmanaged, high-bandwidth network switch engineered for straightforward, high-performance deployments. As a Layer 2 access switch, it is targeted at small-to-medium-sized businesses, creative agencies, and prosumer environments that require a simple yet powerful solution for handling data-intensive tasks like video editing, large file transfers, and network-attached storage access. It directly addresses the need to eliminate network bottlenecks by providing non-blocking 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity without the complexity of a managed device. This switch features eight 10GBASE-T RJ-45 ports, delivering a total switching capacity of 160Gbps to ensure full wire-speed performance across all connections simultaneously. A key operational benefit is its multi-gigabit support; the ports can automatically negotiate speeds of 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps, which allows organizations to leverage existing Cat5e and Cat6 cabling for speeds greater than 1Gbps, maximizing the return on current infrastructure investments before upgrading to Cat6A for full 10G performance. Designed for operational simplicity and flexibility, the TEG-S708 is a true plug-and-play device. Its 1U rack-mountable metal housing makes it suitable for clean installation within a standard 19-inch server rack or for desktop placement in a workgroup setting. Management is non-existent by design, making it ideal for IT teams that need to rapidly expand their high-speed network core or provide dedicated 10G access to specific users or servers without any software configuration.
