Overview

The Eaton 9PX6KSP is a split-phase double-conversion online UPS designed to provide continuous, conditioned power for high-load IT and infrastructure environments. It is deployed by data center engineers and facilities teams to protect critical systems from outages, voltage instability, and frequency variations. The system ensures uninterrupted operation by continuously converting incoming power and isolating connected loads from upstream disturbances.

This unit delivers 5500VA / 4900W capacity and operates with true online double-conversion topology, providing zero transfer time during power events. It supports 120/208V output and includes multiple output receptacles, including NEMA 5-20R, L6-30R, and L14-30R, along with hardwired output capability. The UPS maintains ±1% output voltage regulation and provides a true sine wave output suitable for sensitive IT equipment.

The 9PX6KSP is designed for deployment in standard 19-inch racks or tower configurations, occupying approximately 4U-6U depending on rail configuration. It is commonly used in mid-sized data centers, enterprise server rooms, and edge infrastructure environments where higher power density is required. The unit supports rack integration for structured cabinets and can be positioned to supply rack-level or row-level power protection.

The system operates within split-phase 120/208V power ecosystems and integrates with facility power distribution, generators, and upstream PDUs. It includes a pre-installed network management card for remote monitoring and control, along with USB and serial communication interfaces. The UPS supports hot-swappable internal batteries and expansion through external battery modules, allowing runtime extension without service interruption.

In a practical deployment, the 9PX6KSP is used to support a rack of virtualization servers, storage arrays, and high-density network switches with total loads approaching 4-5 kW. During a utility failure, the UPS maintains continuous output while enabling automated shutdown through network management software, preserving system integrity and preventing data loss.

This unit is not suitable for small rack environments with low power requirements or for three-phase infrastructure. It is also not appropriate where input power does not support split-phase 120/208V configurations or where rack space constraints cannot accommodate larger UPS footprints.
