Overview

The HPE J9281B is a fixed-length (1 metre) passive direct-attach copper cable (twinax) designed to plug directly into SFP+ ports on switches, servers or storage devices rated for 10 Gb/s. Because it is a DAC (and not an active optical cable), it is cost-efficient for short-reach interconnects (typically within a rack or between adjacent racks) where latency and power consumption must be minimal. The cable supports the 10 Gb/s data rate and is compatible with HPE/Aruba switching platforms (and other vendor ports that accept the form-factor) as part of short-reach high-density data-centre designs.
