Overview :

The StarTech I13P-SERIAL-ETHERNET is an industrial-grade serial-to-IP converter designed to provide remote access and control over RS232 serial devices via a standard Ethernet network. It is primarily utilized by systems integrators and automation engineers to manage legacy equipment such as POS systems, CNC machinery, and industrial sensors from a centralized server or workstation.

Technically, the unit is compliant with the IEEE 802.3af (PoE) standard, allowing it to receive both power and data through a single RJ45 connection. It features a high-performance UART capable of baud rates up to 921.6Kbps and supports multiple network protocols including TCP Server/Client, UDP, and Telnet (RFC2217). The device includes Level-4 ESD protection (15kV air, 8kV contact), ensuring operational stability in electrically noisy environments.

Deployment is highly flexible due to its compact all-metal housing and included mounting hardware for DIN-rail or wall installation. For Windows environments, the provided Virtual COM software allows the remote serial port to appear as a local hardware port. While the hardware is compatible with macOS and Linux via WebUI configuration, the Virtual COM software is strictly limited to Windows operating systems.
