Overview

The APC SYBTU1-PLP is a modular battery cartridge designed for use with the Symmetra PX, Smart-UPS VT, and Galaxy 3500 series UPS systems. It supplies backup energy to extend runtime during power outages, allowing critical loads (servers, storage, networking gear) to stay online long enough for safe shutdown or transition to alternate power sources. Because it’s hot-swappable, you can replace or add modules without interrupting connected equipment.Inside, the module is built with sealed, maintenance-free lead-acid cells (typically 12 V, ~7 Ah per cell, per user forums) used in a string configuration to match the UPS’ DC architecture.  Physically, it measures ~700 mm deep, 159 mm high, 107 mm wide, and weighs about 22.7 kg (50.04 lb)  It operates in normal datacenter ambient ranges (0–40 °C) and can be stacked in battery banks for extended runtime. In practice this module is used in redundant UPS setups where uptime matters—e.g. data closets, core switches, SAN systems. You typically see them deployed in pairs or banks so that the UPS can balance load and allow for module maintenance or replacement without total power disruption.Because APC (Schneider Electric) designed SYBTU1-PLP to be part of their scalable architecture, it integrates seamlessly with firmware monitoring systems and allows incremental capacity growth.
