The Denon AVR-S770H is a 7.2-channel network AV receiver designed for home theater systems, music playback, and modern television and gaming setups. It combines seven discrete power amplifier channels with support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, 8K video, wireless streaming, and multi-room audio through HEOS.
The receiver supports conventional 7.2-channel surround sound or a 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos configuration with compatible height speakers. Its network connectivity and HDMI switching allow connected entertainment devices, televisions, gaming consoles, and audio sources to operate through a centralized system.
The AVR-S770H delivers a rated 75 watts per channel into 8-ohm speakers, measured from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with two channels driven at 0.08% total harmonic distortion. It also supports a 110-watt-per-channel rating at 6 ohms under the manufacturer's specified test conditions.
Supported surround formats include Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Surround, DTS:X, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DTS Virtual:X. Audyssey MultEQ room correction measures the connected speaker system and adjusts its response to suit the listening environment.
The receiver provides six HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, with three inputs supporting 8K and advanced 4K gaming signals. Supported video capabilities include 8K/60Hz, 4K/120Hz, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and Dynamic HDR, subject to the connected source, display, cable, and signal format.
HDMI Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) allows compatible televisions to send supported audio formats back to the receiver through the HDMI connection. Additional features include HDMI-CEC, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Quick Frame Transport (QFT), and HDCP 2.3.
Built-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth provide several options for connecting audio sources. HEOS supports compatible music services and multi-room playback with compatible HEOS-enabled products. Apple AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect provide additional ways to stream music from supported devices and services.
The receiver supports playback of selected high-resolution audio formats, including FLAC, ALAC, and WAV up to 192 kHz/24-bit, along with DSD 2.8 MHz and 5.6 MHz files. Availability of individual streaming services depends on region, account requirements, and service support.
The AVR-S770H is designed for compatible passive loudspeakers and subwoofers. Speaker impedance, wiring, placement, and the selected amplifier configuration should follow the manufacturer's recommendations. The receiver has two subwoofer outputs for compatible powered subwoofers.
HDMI-connected televisions, media players, set-top boxes, and gaming systems can be integrated into the system. For advanced video formats such as 4K/120Hz and 8K/60Hz, ensure that the source device, display, and HDMI cable all support the intended signal.
For network streaming and app control, connect the receiver to a compatible home network. The HEOS and Denon AVR Remote apps provide supported playback, setup, and receiver-control functions.
Choose the speaker layout before installation. A 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos setup uses five ear-level speakers, two subwoofers, and two height channels, while a 7.2 layout uses additional surround channels without dedicated height speakers. The receiver has seven amplifier channels, so configurations requiring more than seven simultaneously amplified speaker channels need a different system design.
