APC AP4423A – Rack ATS 16A 230V

Overview

The APC AP4423A is a 1U rack‑mount Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) designed to provide redundant AC power feeds to single‑powered IT equipment in network, server, and edge racks. It is typically deployed by infrastructure engineers and data center technicians to ensure continuous operation during upstream power source transitions.

This ATS supports single-phase 230 V AC operation with a 16 A current rating and up to 3700 VA load capacity, fed via two IEC 60320 C20 inlets. Output is provided through eight IEC 60320 C13 outlets and one IEC 60320 C19 outlet, enabling connection of multiple single-power devices.

Mechanically, the AP4423A occupies 1U of rack space and includes mounting brackets and a configuration cable. Its integrated network management allows remote monitoring and control of the ATS via Web UI, SNMP, or CLI.

Practical deployment examples include redundant feeds from independent UPS or generator sources into a rack ATS serving routers, switches, and appliances in IT closets or edge racks.

This unit is not suitable for loads exceeding its 16 A/3700 VA rating or for systems requiring phase-to-phase or high-voltage backup switching, such as three-phase PDUs.
