Overview

The APC AP4423A is a 1U Rack Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) built to provide redundant power paths for single-corded IT equipment in rack environments. It has two C20 AC inputs so it can draw from dual power sources (A and B). If the primary input fails or goes out of range, it switches to the secondary input seamlessly (typical transfer time ~10 ms) to keep connected loads running.With eight C13 and one C19 outlet, the AP4423A lets you plug several devices directly into the ATS. It includes built-in network connectivity (Web, SNMP, SSH, Telnet, StruxureWare) for remote monitoring, alarms, and current metering, giving you insight into load behavior and status. Because it’s rack-mountable and integrates monitoring, it’s ideal for server rooms, network closets, or edge racks where uptime and visibility matter.This ATS is especially useful in dual-feed power architectures: for example, a server gets fed from UPS A and UPS B via this device, so if UPS A fails, the ATS flips to UPS B without interruption. The AP4423A supports both 50/60 Hz operation and has internal protections to guard against overloads or faults.It’s part of APC’s NetShelter / Rack ATS line, and though models like “AP4423” are shown as discontinued, the “A” variant adds updated management (NMC) and security enhancements.
