Compatibility
History
Netgear was founded by Patrick Lo in 1996. Lo graduated from Brown University with a degree in electronic engineering. Prior to founding Netgear, Lo was a manager at Hewlett-Packard. Netgear received initial funding from Bay Networks.[6]
The company was listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange in 2003.[6]
Network-attached storage
Netgear sells NAS devices to small businesses and consumers under the product name ReadyNAS. With this storage hardware line, Netgear vies with competitors like Buffalo, Zyxel and HP.[16] Netgear entered the storage market in May 2007 when it acquired Infrant (originator of the ReadyNAS line).[17][18] In March 2009, Netgear began to offer an integrated online backup solution called the ReadyNAS Vault.[19] In June 2022 all ReadyNAS product pages was removed and replaced with a link to warranty and support information. Netgear have not yet (August 2022) confirmed that they have withdrawn from the network connected storage market and discontinued the ReadyNAS product line.
